A Silky Breeze

A silky breeze flows in ribbons,
redressing the landscape
as nature's tableau comes to life.

Fields of corn wave a golden greeting
to exhuberant meadow larks,
poppies bob and weave,
dancing with cornflowers
to summer's tune.

Beyond the fields,
rabbits play in dunes,
marram and couch grasses
calling them to be
brave in the sunshine;
to venture abroad.

The ocean celebrates,
ruffled by the silk,
it leaps white hatted
onto welcoming sand,
liquid lace hems the shore
and gulls cry their appreciation.

The Heavens blue the sea
and boast the sun,
angel breath fluffs ivory clouds
until they slip silently
beyond mystery's horizon. . .

the silky breeze flows in ribbons.
